DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade has been reported in several feeding states, 
with Northern dressed deals marked at $370, $2 lower than last week's 
weighted average, basis Nebraska. Southern live transactions are at $238, 
$2 lower than last week's weighted averages. 

Note due to the Government Shutdown the Cattle on Feed report that was 
scheduled for released today will not be available.

Today's slaughter totaled 110,000 head, 18,000 more than last week, but 
3,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 17,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 573,000 head, 6,000 above the prior week, 
but 52,000 below 2025. Cattle futures closed significantly lower with the 
majority of contracts locked limit down on both live (off 597 to 725) and 
feeder (off 905 to 925) issues. Beef cutouts are expected to close higher 
with moderate to good box movement.
